Nevertheless, this community soon joined forces to set to work again.
The Faculty of Architecture in Delft was already renowned the world over for its decisive, innovative and pragmatic approach.
And it is precisely thanks to this characteristic attitude that the Faculty’s sorrow regarding the loss was coupled with an enthusiastic and unflagging energy to enter a new phase. Indeed, the loss of the faculty building also offers new opportunities.
Opportunities to take a fresh and critical look at the education of the future, opportunities to realise a modern, innovative and refreshing design for the university building, which can hold its own in terms of power and presence with the well-known Bouwkunde building from the years of Van den Broek and Bakema.
Precisely because it intends to realise this specific ambition, the Faculty of Architecture has decided to organise an open international ideas competition, in preparation of a project competition for the new faculty building in 2009.

Jury:
Liesbeth van de Pol (Chair, Chief Government Architect, The Netherlands)
Mark Wigley (Architect, Dean of Columbia University's Graduate School, USA)
Rahul Mehrotra (Architect, Professor Department of Architecture MIT, USA)
The international architectural / urban competition, Du(b)ailities: Supra_global_culture / icro_ethnic_localities, aims at intensifying and enriching this exchange by inviting young architects and students of architecture from the UAE and across the world to participate and present visions, concepts and proposals for Dubai. By doing this, the city and its inhabitants, will have the chance to be exposed to views about their city and benefit from the presented pro

posals.

The competition offers its participants two separate challenges: one for the larger city scale and the other for a smaller urban area. Solutions for both categories will create the basis of real proposals and possibilities for the city.

An international jury of professionals and educators will be drawn to assess the work, and award three prizes and an honorable mention for each of the two categories. The outcome of the competition will be exhibited, published, and shared with the international community, local universities and local authorities.

Deadline of submission : 10 January 2009

On the occasion of the 11th International Architecture Exhibition (Venice, September 14th > November 23rd, 2008) this conviction is represented by the Everyville online competition, an extraordinary opportunity for university students from around the world to be directly involved in the organisation of the Venice Biennale.

The competition calls for the preparation of an idea-project based on the theoretical-critical text written by the curator of the 11th International Architecture Exhibition, Aaron Betsky. However, this time the element of challenge and stimulation lies in the fact that the works selected by a prestigious Jury will become an integral part of the 11th Exhibition, to be presented in a dedicated section.

The competition thus represents a unique opportunity and an unrepeatable occasion to present your work, coupled with the satisfaction of presenting it during what is now considered to be the most important architectural exhibition in the world.

-------------

The single phase competition is open to students of all disciplines and from
any university in the world who have not graduated at the time of 1st January
2008, as well as to graduates of any discipline that in the course of 2008 are
enrolled students in post-graduate studies such as specialization, master’s
degree, PhD, etc., and whose attendance may be certified.

Participants must complete the online registration process by 10:00 AM on
July 1, 2008
The self-publication procedure will be active on the competition site from
10:00 AM on July 1, 2008 to 10:00 AM on July 15, 2008 (Italian time), by
which time all submissions must be received in order to be eligible to
participate in the competition.

Web site : http://www.labiennale.org/en/architecture/everyville/

-----------
